You’ve probably experienced dryness and sometimes itchiness on your skin after using certain soaps. This is quite common to most people who have reactions to most industrial soaps. This has made consumers look for alternative soaps that are not only safe for use, but that can be readily made at home. One of the most common safe soap is the organic soap. While organic soaps continue to give cut-throat competition to the industrial soaps, they can as well be easily made in homes.

The major difference between the organic soap and the industrial soaps is that, organic soaps do not contain any or much of the artificial ingredients that are common to industrial soaps. Such ingredients are believed to be the cause of skin reactions to most users. Although many soap manufacturers are adapting natural ingredients and processes in the making of their products, they still use some chemicals as preservatives, artificial colors and fragrances, and hence are not 100% safe for use. Therefore, even if some products in the shops may be labeled “natural soap” or “organic soap” it is important that you look at some of the ingredients that have been used to make that soap.

Different countries and states may have regulations regarding the content of chemical ingredients in organic soaps. Some will allow soap products that are composed of at least 70% natural ingredients to be sold as organic soaps. Nevertheless, most consumers tend to prefer soap products that have less than 2% to 5% of chemical ingredients. Others do not bother to look at the ratios and just pick the product as long as it is labeled “organic soap.”

Organic soaps are normally sold as the other forms of industrial soaps; either in powder form, liquid or in bars. Organic bar soaps are the most common since it can be used for washing as well as bathing. The liquid soap is usually ideal for cleaning household utensils, bathrooms, kitchen walls and floors. Although organic soaps will be found in major general shops, they are readily available in stores that specialize on cleaning agents or natural products.

People who have allergies with some chemicals that are used as additives in industrial soaps will find organic soaps quite reliable and safe. However, as I said earlier, they should be wary of soaps that are sold as organic since some of them contain some chemicals that could still be harmful to them. To be on the safe side, you can choose home-made organic soaps either by buying or making them on your own. Home-made organic soaps contain only natural ingredients obtained from plants and animal oils. Some natural substances can also be added as fragrances, colors and preservatives.

Preparing your own organic soap will enable you to control the content, by including the safe ingredients and avoiding the harmful ones. All you need is to obtain relevant ingredients from shops, soap molds and boilers. To obtain your favorite colors and fragrances, you can use a blend of different herbs and flowers even from your garden. Making your own organic soap will not only ensure your skin safety, but will enable you to express creativity by trying different methods with different ingredients to get the best results that will appeal your family and friends.
