The HTC Desire is aesthetically stylish whilst also combining useful functionality with advanced technology within a 119 mm x 60 mm wide casing which is just 11 mm thick. An Android based operating system is utilised, which offers excellent reliability and feature rich capabilities.

The phones 3.7 inch AMOLED touch screen displays excellent colour imagery and depth of colour by virtue of its 16 million colour display capabilities. The phone utilises the multi-touch input method as its primary means of navigation in conjunction with an optical trackball. Accelerometer and proximity sensors automate several tasks including battery saving and image orientation.

The handset comes with 576 MB of internal memory which can be supplemented by utilising the built in microSD card slot to increase memory capacity up to 32 GB. Class 10 versions of GPRS and EDGE provide connectivity options whilst the inclusion of both microUSB and blue tooth ensure sufficient connectivity. Satellite navigation is provided by the GPS function which comes with A-GPS support. Internet access is provided by the Wi Fi and HSDPA connections which offers speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, as well as the option of utilising available hotspots.

The HTC Desire comes with a digital compass, as well as dedicated search keys to offer simplistic access to services. Social media integration is provided by virtue of Facebook, Flickr and twitter applications, as well as YouTube, Google talk and Picasa integration.

The phone comes with a 5.0 megapixel camera that includes auto focus as standard as well is providing the illumination properties of an LED flash. Video footage can be recorded at D1 quality and at 30 frames per second as an alternative to still imagery.
