Many people today ask about the danger of parabens. What are these parabens and how do they affect our bodies? Most of them ask these questions and rely on opinions of others without facts and makes parabens even worse.

Parabens are chemicals that can be found in many cosmetic products. It is a hydroxy benzoate preservative. Some examples of these compounds are methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, and butylparaben. They have the ability to mimic estrogen in our body and they are weakly estrogenic. However, in the recent research, butylparabens are found to be the most estrogenic.
Studies done about the danger of parabens found out that they cause oestrogenic or adverse effects when injected in the skin. Because they seem not to be absorbed by the skin they cause different effects. When injected in pregnant woman, it acts like an alien hormone that affects the fetus inside the womb. It can also cause infertility in males and breast cancers in females. Though the experiments and results are based from laboratory animals, be advised you need to be aware of these chemicals and don't expose your body to too many parabens.
Since no study can tell me for sure what the danger of parabens are and how many are too many I just donít use any. I would hate to allow 20% of my skincare products to contain parabens and then 10 years down the road find out the safe amount was only 5% or some other number which my 20% was greater than.

In my opinion, we cannot prevent ourselves from using and exposing ourselves from different chemicals. By simply simply living in a normal environment today, we expose our skin and absorb various chemicals that have different effects on our bodies. I simply advise you to limit yourself from too many cosmetic products that use chemicals, especially parabens.
The safest and healthiest route to go is to use natural ingredients in our skincare products. These substances are very effective without the risk of side effects. A beneficial preservative that wonít harm your health is Natural Vitamin E. When you find this in skin care products, besides eliminating the danger of parabens, you also get a wonderful antioxidant that will protect your skin from free radicals.
Other great examples of natural ingredients for skincare are babassu, shea butter, jojoba oils, active manuka honey, avocado oil, and etc. Each of these nature-made elements has different effects when applied to the body.
For example, avocado oil and active manuka honey both stimulate the body to produce more collagen. Collagen is a needed protein to keep wrinkles and fine lines from forming. As we age collagen levels diminish, thus we need to find a way to produce more naturally so the skin can use it. These two substances will do that for us.
Jojoba oil and babassu promotes softness of the skin and add much needed moisture. These natural products are proved to be very effective without adverse effect and they are still used by many cosmetic companies as their main source of ingredient in their cosmetic products.
