If you're new to World of Warcraft or just thinking of starting a Shaman character, you'll need a WoW shaman mini guide.
Originally only the Horde could play shamans, but with the introduction of the Burning Crusade alliance also are able to play them. It's an interesting and maybe challenging choice for either.

A basic WoW shaman guide

The shaman is a hybrid class. This means, the strength of the character will be determined by the talent tree specialization the player chooses.

Shamans can be healers or provide damage. Much of the shaman's powers develop from the use of totems. Totems remain fixed to the spot they are placed, shamans can though position 4 at at a time.
Enhancement shamans in particular, with the power to dual-wield weapons can do a lot of damage whether in a group or solo.

WoW shaman guide to using your talents

.
Just like other classes, shamans can access 3 separate talent trees, restoration, enhancement and elemental. You will need a primary focus to start with but because of the dual specialization facility later on you can flick backwards and forwards between the 2 talent trees you choose, whenever either becomes necessary.

Elemental

This talent tree permits the shaman to be a ranged caster, similar to the druid's balance tree. Be prepared to have to halt for mana replenishment frequently until you reach a high enough level that your mana regeneration improves.

Enhancement

This talent tree focuses on improving the amount of damage you cause, and it's very efficient for going solo. Combined with windfury weapon buff it's possible to blow through mobs quite rapidly.

Restoration

This talent tree focuses on healing. It is useful for the shaman who wants to join the end game instances and raids.
If you are thinking about using this tree from the start, you should look into leveling with a team then mobs are destroyed much quicker.
