I have been looking to purchase some new wardrobes over the last few months - basically due to the fact that my wife has insisted on it. When looking at making an online purchase for the furniture I had the following criteria that I wanted to be met by the company that I was going to buy from:

1. I wanted the online retailer to also have a shop that I could visit on the high street - should I need to. As an example if anything were to go wrong with the purchase I would like to have the option of visiting their retail store to discuss the problems face to face. The main problem with shopping online is that it is impersonal and when things do go amiss it can be quite frustrating when the only form of communication is via the phone or via e-mail.

2. I also was looking to purchase from a some what established retailer. There are many new websites coming into the marketplace each and every day and this raises trust issues. I am, in reality, only interested in dealing with companies that have been in business for five years or over.

3. Then we come to the delivery process - after I have completed all of my sourcing I am then eager to receive the goods. I am therefore looking for a company that is able to provide me with a fairly speedy delivery service.

4. I have mentioned above about when things go wrong with any potential purchase and I have to admit that this is one of my fears when shopping online. I therefore would only ever buy from a company that has a returns policy - a returns policy that is well documented on their website.
