Teaching Chinese as a second language has been deemed easier on younger children than those who are starting to learn over puberty. Some start as early as infancy where the child's brain is like a sponge, absorbing everything it encounters. By simply letting an infant listen to Chinese nursery rhymes, Chinese bedtime stories and the likes are few ways to introduce a language to the child. Using simple Chinese words like "milk, diaper, food, play, smile, cry and etc" (牛奶,尿布,食物,戏剧,微笑,啼声) in your day to day routine with the child will also be very helpful. In time, the child will learn to pick up words and piece them together to create a sensible phrase or a sentence. It has been said that learning a second language is like chicken eating grain, pecking slowly at the grains piece by piece. The pieces themselves might not be much but it continues to add up.

They say that the best way to learn Chinese is to start early but it does not mean learning Chinese when the kid is older is not possible. In fact, there are plenty of Chinese learning materials geared for certain age group. Even non-Chinese speaking parents can choose to raise a bilingual child because of the widely available Chinese learning materials in the Internet. It's easier to teach children nowadays as compare to the past it's just a matter of choosing the right resources for you and your child.

Sooner or later your child will plunge the world surrounded by competitors, it is imperative for them to be as prepared and equipped as possible. Start teaching them young and early, it's the best gift you can give and invest for them.
