What are you looking at?

Not long ago I was going about my daily chores and I heard a voice ask me "What are you looking at?"

I was pretty sure it was God. Just as sure, I thought, the question didn't apply to me. It must be a message for someone else that I know.

A couple days ago I heard the same question asked of me. But this time the question was more urgent and forceful. This time I knew it was from God. Also, I knew the message was for me.

The message started me to examine my life and to see what I was looking at.

So now I am back to a life of faith and being led by the Holy Spirit. It is both easier to live this way and harder to live this way. It is easier in the sense that I have done this before. In the same way that you can ride a bicycle years later after having learned to ride as a child, this life of faith is easier.

The life of faith and being led by the Holy Spirit is harder because some of the goals or challenges are different. Any time that we face an unknown we find it harder. Yet just as soon as we have learned to do that task, it is easier to do the next time.

During this journey, I am sure that some of ask ourselves if we should skip this faith stuff. Shouldn't we try to do the task in our own power? Certainly the result would be the same if not better, right?

Then we suddenly realize that type of life is what we have been living. And it has led us to where we are now. So we need to keep pressing forward in Christ.

How are you doing in Christ today? Make the choice to keep your eyes on God and keep pressing forward.
