To Inflate Or Not to Inflate? What Price Rises Mean to You and Me

Inflation...the elusive word thrown around by economists, politicians and the media. Have you ever wondered why this word is such a bane and what this word has to do with you and and i and why I've chosen this article to be in this category! It's quite simple actually, inflation is the killer of the money you have available for spending for shopping! In Fact, it can kill all your earnings PERIOD!

What is inflation? Well, ask an economist and your answer might leave your head spinning for a second or two. But throw away the biz jargon and you will find that inflation simply means the rising of the price of every product and service around you together over a period of time.

Prices rise...so what? What's that to you? Well it means quite a lot and ESPECIALLY to you! Prices rise! It isn't rocket science...but...your wages DON'T. That isn't rocket science EITHER. So then if prices rise while your wage stays unchanged, effectively the value of your wage is shrinking! How?

Imagine, for a moment that a tub of ice cream costs you 10 bucks today, while the salary you earn is a 100 bucks. So today, you could go out there and clear your grocer's little freezer buying out 10 tubs of ice-cream. That's a no-brainer. Imagine now, for a moment, that inflation - the rising of ALL prices around you for all products and services over time - raises the price of ice cream to 20 bucks (I hope this never happens though it really could!). Now you are left with the same job you love, the same wage, the same sense of satisfaction at work, but a pocket which becomes 2 times smaller! Now your 100 buck wage can only fetch you 5 tubs of ice-cream! Not nearly enough to clear out the grocer this time!

This could seem intuitive and mundane, but it is a reality. As long as your wage does not keep up with the rise in inflation as a percentage, your salary will shrink hopelessly! The only way, of course, is to make sure that your wage increases at a higher percentage than inflation. Unfortunately in these days, consumers DO NOT have this luxury. The average bank deposit account fetches little more than 1% or 2% in interest, sitting poorly when compared to inflations rapid 5-7 per cent rate! To make things worse, governments all over the world change the 'base' measures every few years for reasons too complex for humans to understand, so that the REAL rate of inflation is shrouded in secrecy! So the truth about inflation is that your wage is being ripped off by an invisible force and you do not even realise it!

The best way out for the average consumer is through informed buying with the help of the information superhighway: the internet. Bargains, discounts and deals are abundantly available on the internet for ANY and EVERY THING you could imagine right! Of course, you may not be able to totally beat inflation in this way but you will surely get very close to it, closer than most other people will have had the chance to just because you choose to maximize the value of your earnings and at no additional cost because information on this superhighway, is FREE!

Think about it for one moment. Every item you spend money on in a month can be found at a better price or better worth through the internet. If you save at least 20 percent through bargains on all your needs this month through the internet, you would have effectively beat inflation altogether! Pretty neat for a start right? Try it today and i guarantee you will have no complaints about it! Watch out for more of my articles as i delve deeper into using the internet as a deal tool for consumers and putting power in YOUR hands for a change!
