No one likes to look at the presence of acne on the body. And it is true that acne can spread throughout the totality of the body and not only on the facial region. Regardless of where acne spreads, there will be a desire to cure the condition and be rid of it. While most people will (wisely) look toward over the counter treatments for acne, there are other steps that can be taken to deal with the problem. Here is a brief overview of some of the steps that can be taken.
Acne is often the result of an internal hormonal imbalance in the body, and is not an external problem. That being said, washing your face regularly helps clear away toxins that have built up over the course of a day. This helps reduce bacteria growth by exposing your skin to fresh air. However, don't over do it. Washing your face more than twice a day is excessive and actually causes irritation.
If you are an active person that takes part in sports, do not allow sweat to dry on your skin. This will certainly increase the chances for an acne outbreak to develop. Also, if you shirt is soaked in sweat, switch to a fresh shirt. You do not want the rank bacteria in the shirt to remain in contact in the skin.
And, as much as we do not like to think of it in this manner, acne is often a result of poor dietary choices. When you eat foods that are processed, contain refined sugars, or are high in fat, you will need to curtail ingesting them. Yes, they taste good but they contribute to acne which is never a good thing. Stick with a diet high in fiber, fruits, and vegetables instead.
It is also helpful to change those aspects of your life which are known to contribute to stress. Yes, it is possible to develop severe acne breakouts due to being under extreme stress. The body will respond to stress in a variety of problematic ways and acne breakouts are one of them. Reducing your stress levels may very well reduce the presence of acne. That is a fact.
Stay away from behavioral activities that will lead to the increased odds of developing acne. Using old razors over and over again is a great way to irritate your skin. Touching the skin frequently can lead to new breakouts. And, if acne does develop, do not pop the breakouts in any way. This will lead to an expansion of the breakout as well as potentially severe scarring. That is certainly not a condition you will want to promote.
Purchasing acne products to eliminate stubborn breakouts can reduce inflammation and clogs. Some products are enormously effective and can eliminate acne in a few weeks which is why they are recommended. And, if the over the counter products are not delivering results, you should explore options for treatment with a dermatologist.
Generally, oral and topical prescription antibiotics can be employed to treat the symptoms of acne. However, they contain many side effects and are generally not long term solutions to the root of the problem. Look for natural treatment options for the long term approach.
