There are many things you must consider when visiting Malaysia, but is time one of them? Can’t you visit this marvellous place at any time of the year? This is a question which concerns many people and we will make sure to answer it in this article.

Like any other country, there are certain seasons when visiting Malaysia that will offer you a better experience than any other time of the year.

Weather Factors
Like most tropical countries, Malaysia only has two seasons – hot & wet. Honestly, the weather there is always hot and wet, but during the Monsoon Season from October to February, the weather is much wetter and the rains are much more frequent. The east coast suffers the most from this season, because the winds there are rather strong, so if you visit Malaysia during this time, then make sure to stay at the West Coast.

Festivals
Plan your trip, so that you will be able to attend at least one of Malaysia’s major festivals. Visiting one of these festivals will definitely be an unforgettable experience and will also allow you to learn more about Malaysian culture.

The biggest festival is definitely the Chinese New Year which is annually held on the first day of the first month according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The date changes each year, so don’t bother to plan your vacation by using your normal calendar. However, you can easily find the date by using Google. The festival lasts for an entire month, but its best to attend the first two days as this is the peak of the celebrations.

The other festival is the Hari Rava. Translated this means the Day of Celebration for the Muslim Community. In fact there are two Hari Ravas – the Aidilfitri and Haji. Although they are equally important, we recommend that you visit the Aidilfitri in order to experience the Malay culture.

Deepavali is the celebration of Light and the date varies around October and November. It’s best to use Google in order to find out the exact dates. During this time, all the houses are decorated with various lights and lamps.

School Holidays
This is time when you must avoid coming to Malaysia. If you visit the country during this time of the year, you will just face crowds of people in every holiday spot, huge traffic jams, and high prices. Try avoiding the school holidays in order to enjoy a peaceful vacation, filled with positive emotions.
