The handset measures 113.5x 59x 13.3 mm and weighs in at a pocket friendly 129 g. The front of the handset is dominated by the 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen which is able to display up to 256K colours within the confines of its pixel resolution of 320x 480, resulting in very good display quality of the on screen imagery. Proximity and accelerometer sensors are included as standard, the latter of which allows users to rotate the user interface simply by tilting the handset.

The LG Optimus One comes with 170 MB of storage alongside 512 MB RAM as standard. Additionally, there is an integrated microSD card slot which comes with a pre-installed 2 GB memory card, however this can be replaced with a card of up to 32 GB meaning that an entire digital music collection or a large number of video clips, documents or additional downloaded applications can be stored on the phone.

The LG Optimus One comes with several different connectivity options. In order to carry out phone calls and text messages, class 10 versions of both GPRS and EDGE are called upon to keep the handset connected to the appropriate cellular networks in all but the most isolated regions. An impressive internet browsing experience is assured in areas where 3G coverage is available thanks to an HSDPA connection providing download speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second. To gain an improved internet connection, users can also take advantage of the full Wi-Fi connectivity which utilises local wireless networks. Bluetooth and micro USB connections are included as standard which allow the handset to be connected to compatible hardware devices.

The LG Optimus One comes with a useful 3.15 megapixel digital camera which operates at 2048x 1536 pixels ensuring decent quality of the resulting still images. A number of image enhancing features is included such as autofocus, face & smile detection and beauty shot mode. Geo-tagging is also provided which keeps track of where the camera was used and displays this on a map, a feature which functions thanks to GPS. As an additional method of image capture, the camera boasts the ability to shoot VGA quality video footage.

Android 2.2 Froyo is the operating system of choice and this runs alongside a 600 MHZ processor. These combine to provide a fantastic user experience thanks to the power of the processor providing a lightning fast user interface and the power to run demanding applications. The LG Optimus One is a highly versatile smartphone thanks to a long list of applications which are included as standard such as social networking integration, multimedia features and even productivity tools for the workplace.

The LG Optimus One makes a great choice for those seeking something different from the more common smartphone models. It is surprisingly affordable, yet does not sacrifice features and functionality.
