LG's original "Chocolate" range of mobile phones was all about a sleek and attractive mobile phones whose looks didn't mean that a host of features were sacrificed. Well a few years on and LG are reviving there Chocolate range with the addition of the BL20 Chocolate purple. So is this new handset a worthy successor to the original models?

The LG BL20 Chocolate Purple measures 106.9 x 50.8 x 12.3 mm. The weight of 115g is just right to give the BL20 a comfortable feel in your hand. The screen on this model is 2.4" and capable of displaying a fairly basic resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Despite this it is more than enough to display the everyday features such as messages and phonebook very clearly. Keeping the front of the handset looking neat and fashionable, a host of touch sensitive buttons are located beneath the screen. The central "OK" button is surround by the directional key, which is where the user will perform most of the on screen navigation. Four other keys are included, perhaps the most useful being the "Widget" key situated at the bottom right of the handset. This button calls up a list of features such as alarm clock, notepad and contacts. The phone is a slider design so when the screen is slid upwards, a numeric keypad is revealed.

When you turn over the BL20 Chocolate Purple, you will then find the 5 million pixel camera. This takes a good quality of photo and is also backed up with some useful features including a zoom facility, LED flash for low lighting conditions and Autofocus, to ensure your snaps are always crystal clear. The camera can be launced via a dedicated button located on the side of the handset. The phone also supports video capture.

A newly revamped user interface from LG is featured on this handset, meaning menus are easy to navigate and look very stylish. When browsing the web, the browser also makes this task easy, however the slightly restrictive screen size coupled with the lack of Flash support means this handset is never going to be an option for those who require serious web browsing facilities. The phone works on EDGE, 3G and GPRS. A basic media player is included with the phone. Music formats that are supported are MP3, WMA and AAC. Songs are searchable by 3 criteria which are Artist, Album and Genre, or the user has the option to create their own playlists. An FM Radio is also built in to the handset.

The LG BL20 Chocolate Purple is immediately going to win a lot of fans with is undoubtedly sexy looks. The other features are really just a bonus, except perhaps the excellent camera function which rival many of the better camera phones available at present.
