Hey I am not a vet or doctor nor do I own more then one dog at a time. What I am is someone who became very intersted in dog booties about 15 years ago. I started out making them for a company that was into dog raceing. I never realized that the iditerod dogs used so many booties.NOr all the thought that was put into them..They had to be as light weight as possible as not to weigh the dog down but also strong enough to protect there paws from ice and other debrie.
Well thats where I started. The company I worked for wasn't at all interested in the everyday pet owner. Each musher would order like 500 to 1500 booties at a time. And they where throw away boots. Good for 40 to 50 miles of running.
I decided after a few years of sewing these to try and make a boot that would last and look a little nicer to match with coats, shirts or any other apparal.
Well it's been a while.
My first boots where just cordura. Then I added a lining for warmth,I was recieving requests for warm weather boots also outdoor. So I started making just flannel dog boots, Then it was indoor nonslip boots that where needed.
for an indoor boot or any boot to be worn all the time it needs to be breathable. I have looked into and found some horror stories of pets almost dying from heat because they sweat from there paws. If the boot doesn't breath then you are not helping them.
My other concern was them feeling what was beneath them. Dogs are not people and I really don't believe they like a sole that is hard and uncomfortable. (Just my opinion) but I believe it and that is why I made my boots with a soft flexible nonslip rubber. I truly believe I have made the most comfy boot for our dogs.
Of course you are still going to have your naughty little westy's that just want to chew everything in site (like my naughty little boy Brute)
