The HTC Desire Has Proven A Popular Choice

HTC has recently released the Desire, one of its most popular handsets to date. This is a handset which ticks all the boxes in terms of both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Its key features include an advanced touch screen, fast Internet access and a 5 mega pixel digital camera.

Access to the Internet is provided via both 3G coverage and integrated Wi-Fi connectivity. The former utilises an HSDPA connection to provide Internet access at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second (alongside HSUPA at 2 MB per second). Whenever the included Wi-Fi Technology detects the signals provided by wireless Internet router, it utilises these to provide a faster web browsing experience at speeds similar to a broadband connection. In order to connect to cellular networks, the HTC Desire makes use of class 10 versions of both EDGE & GPRS. Bluetooth and micro USB connections are both provided as standard, offering means to connect to compatible hardware devices such as other phones and computers. Both of these allow users to carry out a range of tasks such as sharing and backing up contact information and media files etc.

The HTC Desire comes with an impressive 5 mega pixel digital camera which operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 pixels which offers a means of taking good quality snapshots as well as the ability to shoot video in WVGA quality at a rate of 15 frames per second. The camera includes several features for simplifying the task of taking good quality photos such as Autofocus, smile detection and an LED flash for low lighting conditions. Geo-tagging operates thanks to GPS and automatically records the location at which a photo was taken.

A list of features and applications gives the handset a high degree of versatility and appeal to a range of different users. For entertainment purposes, an internal media player, stereo FM radio player and a selection of pre-installed games are all included along with social networking applications for popular websites such as Facebook, Flickr and twitter.

The handset itself is a relatively compact and very slimline at just 11.9 millimetres thick and it weighs in at a pocket friendly 135 g. The appearance of the phone is simplistic and stylish and it is available brown and silver so a colour scheme to suit most tastes is sure to be found offering aesthetic appeal to style conscious users.

The HTC Desire offers the potential to store a large amount of data such as music files and photos etc thanks to an integrated micro SD slot which comes with a pre-installed for gigabytes memory card however this can be upgraded up to 32 GB, along with a 576 MB RAM as standard. The internal phonebook can store a large number of contacts and also features the Photocall function.

A 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen has the ability to display up to 16M colours within its pixel layout of 480x 800 pixels offering good quality display of the on screen imagery. An accelerometer sensor and optical trackpad offer additional features of the screen and the latter provides an alternative method of navigating the HTC Sense user interface.

Given its impressive list of everyday functionality with its pleasing aesthetics, the HTC Desire ticks all the boxes and it is easy to see why it is proven such a popular handset for the manufacturer.
