The role of a Surgical Technician is vital within the health industry. Surgical technicians usually prepare an operating theater prior to surgery, ensuring that the room is properly sterilized and that all of the items in the room are sterile too. They are often also responsible for the sterilization of equipment and for making sure that a high cleanliness standard is maintained during an operation. Other duties are varied and frequently differ from hospital to hospital. This inspires feelings of comfort and reassurance in patients, which is not only important for their own mental preparedness but is also important for a healthy post operative recovery period.
