Adding a twist to their normal styling, Blackberry has released a rather unique looking smartphone called the Blackberry 9800 Torch. Utilising a combination of both touchscreen technology and a full physical QWERTY keyboard, it offers the best of both worlds.

As well as the previously mentioned features, the Blackberry Torch provides an impressive all round smartphone experience. Its features include the new Blackberry OS 6.0, a 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi internet connectivity as well as a wealth of entertainment and productivity tools.

The handset itself measures 111x 62x 14.6 mm and weighs in at a respectable 161 grams. The 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen can display up to 16M colours within its 360x 480 pixel resolution. This gives it superb clarity and quality of on screen imagery, making it great for viewing photos and video footage. As well as touchscreen technology and a QWERTY keyboard, an optical trackpad is also provided as an alternative method on navigating the UI.

A generous 4 GB f internal storage is provided as standard within the Blackberry Torch giving plenty of room to store media files or office documents. However there is an additional 4 GB available in the shape of a pre-installed memory card in the micro SD slot, and this can be expanded further to up to 32GB, meaning it is unlikely that users will ever run out of space to store their music tracks, video s or documents.

Class 10 GPRS & EDGE provide the Blackberry Torch with its connection to cellular networks, with the internet relying on HSDPA and Wi-Fi. The former utilises 3G coverage for its internet access, whilst the Wi-Fi connection provides a faster browsing experience thanks to local wireless networks where available. In order to connect to compatible hardware devices such as computers and other phones, the Blackberry Torch utilises Bluetooth and micro USB connections allowing a range of tasks to be carried out such as backing up contact info and transferring media files.

A handy 5 megapixel camera is built into the back of the handset which does a great job of taking high quality still images. The pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 means the pictures look great on the screen, or when transferred to a computer for printing. A number of image enhancing features is included as standard, whilst the camera also boasts the ability to shoot video footage in VGA, as an alternative method of image capture.

Whether you are looking for an entertainment orientated smartphone, or a productivity tool for the workplace, the Blackberry Torch is a great choice, thanks to is comprehensive spec list.
