If your looking for tips on hosting a bachelor party, well that's another article. Lets face it you probably don't need the help. What you need is help with what comes after that. There are things that can make your role as the best man not only a memorable experience, but a great help to the bride and groom.

Pre Planning:
Most guys don't really know what it takes to put on a wedding. I know I did not. After my own and being a photographer for many others there are some things you, as the best man, can do to help. I can guarantee the groom has been given a list of tasks for the wedding. Tuxedos, DJ, limo who knows. Ask the groom if there is some research you can help with. The Internet can be a quick help with this. Google vendors and create a list of vendors he might need. Even make a few phone calls and check availability. Don't decide what he needs just organize a nice list for him.

Making it to the Alter:
There is usually a set schedule for the wedding day. Do everything to help keep it. The schedule can be the most important part of the day. By keeping schedule it takes allot of stress off everyone involved. Keep in touch with the groom. Go pick him up, get food and other last minute items that may be needed. Make it so there is only one thing he has to worry about, that's getting to the alter.

And Now For a Few Words:
Its your time to shine. I have heard the good, the bad, the short, the long and of course the drunk. This is a special time that a couple has been looking forward to. The first thing to remember is forget the drunk, there is plenty of time later in the night for that indulgence. Don't be afraid to write down a few things to help with your memory. When its your turn with the mic do not be afraid to take your time. Write a speech that fits your personality. Do some research on writing a good speech. An inside joke is a nice touch, 4 or five is just boring for everyone else. Don't drag it on. You will lose easily lose everyone at the 5 minute mark. Last its a toast, put a little heart into the ending. Tell everyone to raise there glass and honor the couple in a special way.

I will tell you a relaxed bridal party who is there to have fun makes the photos better and the day more memorable. Do everything you as the best man can do to help and not hinder the day. Enjoy yourself and as always make it memorable.
