Many others have tried, using super fast and strong engines. They failed to get the plane off the ground. But brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright focused on the plane first, and on engine speed and power second. They wanted a high quality plane, light, and easy to fly. They thought, adding a smaller, less powerful, lighter engine would get them to their goal of being "First in Flight." Indeed, they were first to fly when others who tried with much more powerful engines, yet bulkier planes, failed.

Include all senses in your observations. Be flexible in your observations, don't lock yourself to observe only at certain times and specific places, but always be on a lookout. Get into a habit of always taking a notebook with you. Take notes of anything unusual you see or sense. When you are doing research for your articles, likewise always have an attentive eye for the smallest detail. Include an inner eye in your observations. Ask yourself, how does an unusual quality you just observed fit into the bigger picture. Always ask yourself what is there behind what the eye can see. Going one step further brings us to the next tip of noticing how the observations affect you, personally.

Notice the reflections of memories and other stories does the observation provoke in you. Further, notice what feelings come up as you are observing or researching. Do you feel happy, angry, indifferent, scared, sad, shocked? And, lastly, inspect your own body reactions and movements. Rolling your eyes in disapproval, closing eyes to avoid sight, tenseness, wanting to go away, remove yourself, avoid coming closer, and in the extremes: shivering, or jumping of joy.
