Good luck. It's hard, you know. People often believe that because the Internet exist in their home, it should be simple to build a profitable Internet business. Well..., it is simple, actually, but it takes a LOT of work to get your business rolling.
I'll keep this short and sweet for you. If you want to start a web business, ask yourself this: "What am I good at?" If you are good at marketing, you might need help selecting something to sell. If you are good at identifying products or services that have real value, then you might need help with marketing.
Or you might need help with both. If you do, you will have to pay someone to teach you or act as a consultant. But its worth it. You just have to hold on to your dream while you take the initial beating and go through the stages of doubt, fear, frustration and doubt. Yes, I know I said doubt twice. You must always believe in yourself and your idea. If your idea seems a little bit oddball, doesn't matter. Maybe keep it to yourself and not ask too many other people what they think.
If you are going to ask someone their opinion, ask a successful Internet marketer and let them evaluate your idea. Listen to him and follow good advice, and be willing to change your mind when necessary.
But hold on to your initial, simple idea. Add value to that idea and market the heck out of it. Software helps, and there is plenty of good, free software available that can move you forward.
That's the hardest part - the marketing. You'll start small and build up, so give yourself plenty of time to do this. Months, at least. And don't expect to see any decent money for six months, even when you do everything right. This business is a business of small steps. If you can HOLD ON to that fundamental truth about Internet marketing, you will do well. Small steps, repeated over and over and over...
