1. Time is money. Cliché, but true. Think of your time in terms of billable hours, it will help you value your time much better.
2. Finish what you start. By fragmenting jobs, you lose both momentum and motivation.
3. Look then leap. Nothing is so important that you can't consider the decision-making process before beginning.
4. Don't over commit your time. Not only does this cause stress, but you will become known as being unreliable if you don't deliver. Always remember commitment is simply doing what you say you're going to do.
5. Do what you do best, when you do it best. When you're not at your best, attend to routine tasks that don't put too much strain on your brain.
6. Be realistic. There are 24 hours in a day, you can't change that, so make the most of the time you have.
7. Keep it simple. Keep one diary, one calendar, one to do list. Having to check these separate sources is an unnecessary waste of time and a stress creator.
8. A place for everything, and everything in its place. If you put things away the first time then you'll be able to find them straight away when you need them in a hurry. Always have a functional filing system, for both hardcopy documents and electronic documents (on your hard drive).
9. If you work from home, treat your workplace as an office. As tempting as it is, don't stay in your pyjamas all day, don't have lunch at 10 AM, and don't prioritise daytime TV over your impending important business deadlines.
10. Take a break …When one occurs naturally, don't force a lunch break when you're in the zone being creative, producing great material, or developing business opportunities for yourself.
