No one wants to risk paying expensive TV advertising fees and not get value for their investment. To avoid the shock that would come after realising that your advertising campaign is not going to produce the expected results, here are seven things you should first clarify with the TV advertising company.
1. Seek to know who runs the company
This may seem to be not very important but it carries a lot of weight. With the high number of advertising companies today, it is not a wonder to find people who start such companies just to rip off cash from unsuspecting business people. This is why you need to find out the people behind the company and establish their credibility. If possible, meet not only with the firm’s managers but also the owners and make sure they are known people, whom you can trust.
2. Find out how long the company has been in operation
The reasons for this are obvious. Unscrupulous advertising companies cannot survive for long. So, if a company has been in operation for a long time, chances are that it has good services and is worth investing in. The same, however, cannot really be said of young companies, although, if you determine by other ways that a young company does its work diligently, then you can go ahead to make a deal with it.

You should also seek to find out how long the currently serving personnel have been with the company. A company’s success is mostly dependent on its task force. The effectiveness of a company may therefore be affected by a change in the company’s personnel.
3. Ask how qualified the personnel in the company are
Advertising is a sensitive field and not just any person can work in it. A poorly done advert, be it in the production or the presentation stage, will not only be ineffective but may actually be harmful to your brand. You therefore need to be sure that the company you contract has professionally qualified personnel that understand the rules of the industry perfectly.
4. Find out which clients the company has previously served
Get to know the clients that the advertising company has previously served. That would help you figure out the credibility of the company. A company that has served major brands and had a success at it is surely worth your consideration. In addition, you could contact the clients and find out how they liked the services offered by the advertising company in question. Experience from such clients may help you learn things that the company may not be willing to tell you at first.

5. Determine whether the company has done any similar project in the past
Some advertising companies specialise in the production of a particular type of commercial. It is therefore important to find out if the company that you are considering specialises in a given line. You should be hesitant to contract a company that specialises in the production of a given type of TV adverts that are different from what you currently need.
6. Seek to know who will retain the rights to the production
A good deal is when you, the client, become the owner of the rights of the TV advert production. In that case, you will not be bound to run the advert exclusively with the producing company. That would help you take advantage of lower running costs from other advertising companies that may not really have been able to come up with quite as good a production, but have better airing platforms.
7. Ask the company if they have any suggested changes to your plan
An experienced company will most likely have suggestions that would make your advertising campaign better. This should be from previous experiences and professional expectations. If the company comes up with viable suggestions, then you can have more confidence with them.
While there are many other details about which you should seek clarification from the TV advertising company, the seven mentioned above should never go without a mention. The TV advertising costs should, obviously be given serious consideration, but not to the expense of quality. Although drtv production is usually a bit more costly, the effectiveness of campaigns done with such productions is usually worth the investment if the company you are considering has the skills for it.
