Selling on ebay can be as hard or as easy as you make it. Most people who decide to sell on ebay have to remember one simple thing: One man's junk is another man's treasure. You don't have to be an expert on computer technology. Ebay walks you through the process in an easy to understand step by step selling on ebay. There are numerous articles, blogs, even books on learning how to sell on ebay. You can waste your money and your time by buying and reading them, but if you just go to the ebay website and click selling on ebay you are half way there.
Selling on ebay can be fun, exciting, a lot of work, little work, profitable, or expensive - I think you may be getting the idea. Let me elaborate: fun, because you can sell something you might have given away or just thrown away and often times what you think is worthless is valuable to someone else, which in my book can be very exciting. You can take one picture or no picture of your item and describe it in as many words as you want or you can take all kinds of pictures from every angle and write an elaborate description which details your item ad nausea. Ergo, it can be a lot of work or little work.

Now for the most important thing: profitable or expensive. When you sell something on ebay, they take a piece of the action, which seems fair sense they provide a service. It is a nominal fee that usually turns out to be about 2% of the total ending bidding price. You found an item that you can live without, but you can't bear to just toss it in the trash. You follow the instructions to put it on ebay to sell. You take one picture of this item and upload it to your computer, sounds really simple and for some techies I guess it is. After you figure out how to get the damn picture on your computer, then it is time to write a description. OMG how do you describe it color, size, weight, etc. you have to be a good salesman and this is your venue to make your sale. So far you have spent around 35 to 55 cents, but that does not include your time or efforts. You make the final click and magically your item appears, it's fun to see it as it looks very professional. Then you set back and watch people bid; after 7 days the final bid on your item comes to $5.55. Just a minute, now you have to mail it, and you calculated wrong - it is going to cost you about $7.25 to mail it and that does not include the box for mailing. You have learned a valuable lesson, make sure you check the shipping. (hint use ebay's calculator). However, you could have made money too. It gets easier with every transactions.
