You are getting married for the second time and it does not matter if you are having a small private wedding or a large scale celebration, you will need ideas for second weddings. And maybe even wedding ideas that include children if either of the partners had children in their previous marriages.

Some time ago the general idea was that second weddings should be rather low key and not the big splash associated with a first wedding. This is not the case anymore. You can go as big and bold as you want. In fact we watched a show a few weeks back on elaborate weddings. In one case it was the bride's second wedding and the budget was $400 000!! Yes, that's right four hundred thousand dollars. The lighting at the reception alone was $45 000. A really nice touch was that her two boys from a previous marriage (about 8 and 10 years old) both walked her down the aisle.

So you can clearly see that the choice is yours. If you have this kind of money, go for it and if you are on a budget, that is okay too. But more importantly to consider is the affect a second marriage will have on your children or on both sets of children if your partner has children from a previous marriage. This can be a very traumatic experience and has to be handled carefully.

All the children involved should be the first to know about your upcoming marriage. Depending on the different personalities, you should use your discretion about breaking the news. It may be a good idea to tell the news separately to shy children or if this is not a problem, call a family meeting and make the announcement in a fun way.

This should after all be very good news and the wedding will be a celebration of your love for each other. Hopefully the children will feel the same way. This will mean that two households will be joined which may or may not cause tension. This may take some patience and a lot of love but it can be done and has been done thousands of time with great results.

Next to be informed about the upcoming wedding should be both pairs of parents and ex-partners as well. Children will be uncertain about their place in the new family and ex-partners or grandparents can be an important factor in breaking the news.

Children can easily feel threatened but new siblings and will need all the support they can get. Grandparents, dad or mom can play a major role if the children are comfortable with them and will respond better with the necessary support from such person.
