There are a whole range of great home broadband packages available to you, so if you need a great broadband deal, then now is the best time to look for one.
Many years ago you had few choices with your internet connection, as your connection was effectively provided by your phone line provider, due to the fact that old connections were dial up connections. There are various Home Broadband Packages which helps to choose from, considering the options for the customers.
Times have changed

In the days of 56k connections, you would connect your modem to your computer, and the other cable would lead to your phone line terminal. This would allow the modem to “dial up” the number of your ISP and connect to the internet via this network.

This approach meant that you couldn’t make or receive phone calls on your home phone when surfing the internet. In addition, if you were a heavy user, your bills could potentially be astronomical, with some ISP’s charging by the minute as with phone calls.

The broadband age has done away with this approach, allowing users to surf the internet at their leisure, without worrying about charges by the minute (they are now charged by the month) or whether someone was trying to get though to them on the phone line while they were online (this approach leading to people only surfing an hour or so at a time so as not to miss calls).

Imagine surfing the internet off and on all day as you might in this broadband age, you’d have to keep dialling up the service, waiting for a connection, then waiting an age to connect to the pages you want while they laboriously load images and words at a snail’s pace. In addition, you’d perhaps miss 5 or 6 calls throughout the day due to being online, leaving you in a mess.

No need for a second phone line

This would be an awful way to run a business, so if you didn’t have a broadband connection, then you’d have to pay out for a second phone line. This in itself adds additional costs to your bills, with a phone line doubling your call costs. Line rental was not cheap in the 56k age, and so such luxuries as a dedicated internet phone line were ones that you would have to consider carefully.

This is not a concern these days however, as a broadband internet connection acts in a completely different way to a dial up connection, and is not charged by the “call time”, but by a pre agreed data transfer speed which is charged at a flat rate every month, much akin to a mobile phone service (except you will have great trouble going over your monthly data allowance).

So with lightening fast speed and no need to worry about missing phone calls, a broadband connection could not be a better option.
