Saving on Rising Fuel Costs

Research has suggested that motorists feel ‘ripped off' by the cost of fuel, which has sky rocketed in recent years. With no visible resolution to the situation of high fuel costs there are growing concerns that motorists are ignoring key problems to avoid the raising costs. An example of this is ignoring issues with their cars, such as not acting on problematic tyres, citing costs as a major factor in this. That is why car company Peugeot, for example, with their 308 model have developed energy saving tyres. Motorists are now weighing up the best options to save money and more fuel efficient cars with low fuel costs and environmentally friendly features, are now in motorists minds when trying to save on the cost of rising fuel.

These fuel concerns for Motorists could be offset by new energy efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles. For example, Peugeot's 508 saloon version reduces fuel consumption by 15 per cent. This may be the way for Motorists to go as this is cost effective and desirable, especially in this era of high fuel costs, a reduction of the use of fuel will mean less costs, meaning the advantages are not only environmental, but also financial. The initial outlay buying an environmental car will be an investment for the long run, and save weekly in terms of fuel.

With the high cost of fuel, the burden for city dwellers and urban travellers on short journeys can further be offset by the impact of electric cars with their fixed price and minimal recharging costs. A prime example is Peugeot's iOn car, which produces no emissions. The greater government funding and grants provided for electric cars may be the way forward therefore. Peugeot's diesel hybrid the 3008 hybrid4 car has a lower than expected fuel consumption and exceptionally low carbon emissions. With such considerations and the seemingly cost effective advantages electric cars provide, motorists may no longer have to pay exceptionally high fuel costs, as they are doing at the moment.

Low emission cars therefore are a viable alternative to rising fuel costs. Motorists may lean towards vehicles like the Peugeot 308 hatchback with its high fuel consumption and low carbon emissions, simply to save costs as the lower the cost of fuel the more financially stable the weekly and monthly household expenses are. This may be of great advantage when choosing a vehicle for those with company cars. With a negative reaction to fuel rises these new low emission and environmentally friendly vehicles stand as a realistic alternative as the situation of rising fuel prices is not likely to change any time soon. Car companies therefore, in developing these new environmentally friendly vehicles, are becoming aware of the concerns of regular motorists and their need to save money. Electric cars and environmentally friendly vehicles are being constantly developed and improved to help this cause.
