I have owned Sony TVs exclusively for the last 30 years. I was in the market for a new TV to replace my old Sony 50 "Grand WEGA LCD projection. I always Keep up with new technologies in consumer electronics and knew that the LED backlight is the way to go. One day, I visited Best Buy to see new models from Sony.

I was particularly interested in the Sony Bravia XBR8 LED TV. He has a fantastic display, but I could not part with $ 5K for a TV. The high price was a big disappointment. I knew Samsung LED models made so I decided to check them too. I was immediately at stake. They looked much better than the more expensive Sony and LED for $ 2K less. But I was really prepared to buy something other than a Sony television? I should be convinced .

I did a lot of research on these Samsung in September I've demoed several stores and read reviews possible. IMO, the TV LED Samsung are by far the best technology currently available. Their display must be seen to be believed. more impressive of all is the fact that Samsung made this in a collection that is only 1.2 "thick.

Well, I was finally convinced and decided to buy the SAMSUNG UN55B8000 55 1080p LED HDTV. I have owned for almost a month now and I am in awe every time I watch it. This set is beautiful even when switched off. But, do not want to turn off, because the clarity, detail, brightness, contrast and color are exceptional.

For the first time I owned a TV, I had to make modifications to factory settings - that seemed perfect right out of the box. In fact, I bought a DVD calibration and was surprised to discover that I had to make any changes to any control.

Of course, the most surprising thing in this series and what initially drew me to it is its image quality. It 'hard to explain the level of detail it produces. I have cable HD programming (1080i), which looks fantastic. Games on Xbox 360 comes out of you. But the images produced by a source Blu-ray is absolutely breathtaking. I was pleasantly surprised at how bright the display looks in my family room lit by the sun.

I thought I had to adjust the brightness to see the whole day and again during the night vision like I did with our old Sony television. Although the screen on SAMSUNG UN55B8000 55 1080p LED HDTV has a glossy finish, it does a great job of reducing glare and reflections.

I want to respond to negative comments that others have posted here regarding the uneven backlight or vignetting effect caused by edge-lit LED when the TV displays dark images. The only time I noticed when this was set against a background appears completely black, like in movie credits. At best, it appears as a very faint light from a corner.

But even then, I had to look for it. I do not think this is a problem at all, at least not one that should deter anyone from buying this amazing television. I must assume that those who experienced this anomaly are probably looking at a calibrated series that has its brightness level turned too high.

I took advantage of the slim design of this series and bought the Ultra Slim wall mount. The TV hangs like a frame and looks like a masterpiece, it is. The slim case speaker suitable homes, producing enough good sound quality for normal TV viewing. Sure, you want to watch movies through a surround sound system.

Regarding the other characteristics of this series, internet widgets are pretty cool, but slow. I especially like the YouTube widget. The network features DLNA is also a nice addition, but the interface is slow and not very intuitive. I hope that a future firmware upgrade should improve the functionality.

The function of content library is my favorite. It allows you to view a presentation of works of art or other photos with background music - great for parties. You can download additional content for free from Samsung.

I am extremely satisfied with this TV and recommend it to anyone.
