The Vikings had a remarkable understanding of human psyche in that they recognized cause and effect and the interconnectedness of all things. The word "wyrd" did not originally mean something unusual or strange; rather, it referred to the far-reaching effects of that which one does. The concept of "FATE" was also not as we know it now. Instead of a helpless predestination, "FATE" meant a destiny created by one's earlier actions.
"WEIRD" is pictured as a web, like that of a spider. When the spider steps onto a thread (a path), the vibrations affect the entire web and that which is contained within the web. Just as our actions affect our immediate world and those around us, the actions of others affect OUR lives.
When one does a Rune Reading, one usually addresses a particular issue, and examines the past, the present and the "future", or rather "what will be if one follows the path one appears to be on." The future is always perceived as changeable. The runic reading is done as an evaluation process, not as fortune-telling. One has an opportunity to look at what has occurred in the past (regarding the issue being questioned), what is occurring right now, and what direction one is headed. A rune caster does not see the future. He/she examines cause and effect and points out a likely outcome.
The motto for the RUNES could be the same words that were carved above the Oracle of Delphi: "Know Thyself". They act as a teacher for us. Yet for some it may be more comfortable to approach the RUNES in a spirit of play. Oracles are sacred games, instruments for serious high play, and the value of play is that it frees us from the effort of learning, frees us to learn as children learn.
Each of us is an Oracle, and when we pray, we are exercising our true oracular function, which is to consult the Knowing Self within. Consulting the RUNES will put you in touch with your own inner guidance, with the part of you that knows everything you need to know for your life now. Consulting an Oracle places you in true present time because whatever happens in the given moment possesses what Carl Jung calls "the quality peculiar to that moment."
Experiencing a true present is something most of us find extremely difficult. We waste a good part of our lives dwelling on past regrets and fantasizing future disasters. Remembering In the spiritual life, We are always at the beginning helps us to overcome our addiction to "getting ahead." For when we experience a true present, that is where everything happens.
From Me 2 You Online
Everyone tells you that you need to do what you are passionate about. I have beat myself up for years trying to figure out what is my "Passion". I don't have one. There is nothing in my life that I HAVE to do. There are innumerable things I like to do, but none of them are 'passions'. I decided that it is okay for me to not have a 'passion'. I have been interested in Holistic Living and Metaphysical Readings and Healings. Now maybe with more exposure to this world of 'Alternative Thinking' I may just find that I really do have a 'passion'? So, with that thought in mind, my website is all about "Expanding Myself" - learning things I never knew before...sharing them with the world. ....and hoping you will want to come along for the ride!
If there is anything you want to know, just let me know and I will tell you what I know. If I don't know, I will find out, or tell you what someone else knows, or at least direct you to someone who knows what they are talking about. Please be assured, I will not lie to you - nothing worse that a person pretending to know what they are talking about and taking you down a path that makes your life more difficult or complicated than it was before you listened to them (personal experience talking here). This will be fun so come with me and have a good time.
I appreciate you and the time you are willing to share with Me. Thank You!
