Roe vs Wade for Men?

On March 9, 2006 The National Center For Men filed suit in a United States district court in Michigan on behalf of a man's right to make reproductive choice. In essence, to opt out of fatherhood in the event of an unintended pregnancy. They're calling it Roe vs Wade for Men.

Before they go any further with this, they need to think long and hard about the future consequences. Think about this for a minute..

Our nation, full of fatherless children (because their fathers had opted out). It's a proven fact that most of the criminals we have locked up in prisons right now, grew up fatherless. Do we really want a society crawling with bitter, angry, young people with no direction? I know I don't want my children to have to deal with their bitterness.

Why doesn't the child have a voice? Everyone talks about the rights of the mother and now the rights of the father, but what does the child have to say about it? What if the child would say "Look, I want to keep both of my parents and I want them to keep me. I will be a blessing, not a burden. I need direction and love. Please don't opt out of raising me, your only doing this for selfish reasons."

Let's hope the father doesn't need an organ or bone marrow or some kind of medical help someday (that only his child could give). The child might just decide to opt out.

In closing, I thank God for my father. If it hadn't been for him, I would have been orphaned at age two when my mother passed away. If you're a father and paying child support today, count yourself blessed. Someday your good deeds will pay off, and you will be rewarded for every unselfish sacrifice you've made. Roe vs Wade for men? Don't even consider it guys, your children will look up to you and praise your name when they're grown up.
