The Parallel Media Consumption

We are in the information age today and the word speaks for itself. Information is free-flowing today in the huge network called the internet. In marketing a product, it has also taken a turn with information as its main key to penetrate into the consumers mind.

Reaching out to the consumers today has become a complex process because consumer today has too many choices to choose from. First, a brand of a product must reach to a point called consideration phrase for the consumers. Often, there will be 2 to 5 brands that a consumer is thinking of before making that final choice. With such a complex reach that advertisers have to go through to reach the audience, various kinds of media has been utilized by companies or service providers so that they reach the consumers.

In the World Wide Web, there is You tube, Myspace, E-bay, Blogger and many other ways which is in use to provide information to the consumers. Then, there is the invasion of the social media network where members in that particular network are sharing information. So, one source of information might be able to reach thousands of other users. This is like a chain reaction happening invisibly. There is interaction, dialogue and all this is flowing without us realizing it. It is another form of word of mouth marketing happening in the digital world. The same thing happens to the consumer, too many brands to choose from.

All this leads to brand rejection and brand skepticism. Due to the irresponsible marketing which is occurring as we speak. Therefore, we should all have a say in this situation and do something about it. We should all engaged again and revive the beauty of word of mouth marketing.
