The One that Didn't Get Away
Michael Price

Ok, so we've probably all heard a friend tell us their fishing story about the big one that got away … right? So it would only seem fair that I get to tell you my fishing story … but this one is different!

This true story is about my nephew Paul, now 22, who absolutely loves to fish. Paul used to live 2 minutes from a lake, and his goal in life is to become a professional fisherman.
About 15 years ago, my brother (Glenn) and I took Paul to a fish farm where they stock fish, and provide all the equipment you need to fish. Paul was very excited, as the ponds were full of fish; fish were literally jumping out of the water. Everyone was catching fish, and usually one every 5 to 10 minutes.
We outfitted Paul with a pole and plenty of bait, and we "went to work". It wasn't long before Paul had caught his first fish. He was so excited that his body was literally shaking, and he couldn't wait to get his pole back in the water.
After removing the hook from the fish, we quickly baited his hook and threw his line in the water again. It wasn't long before he caught another … and another … and another. This continued for about an hour.
When Paul finally ran out of bait, my brother told him it was time to go. Being 7, Paul didn't understand why it was time to go (I'm sure those of you with children can appreciate this). He wanted to continue fishing. Glenn kept telling him that we had to go because there was no more bait. Of course, Paul still didn't understand and ignoring Glenn's command, he thrust his hands into the water hoping to catch one last fish ... to no avail.
Again, Paul began to plead with his dad and upon hearing ‘No' for the 10th time; he put his fishing line (with no bait) in the water. Before he could blink an eye, Paul caught another fish! Needless to say, my brother and I were initially shocked.
Then I thought about it … why would a fish bite a hook with no bait on it? The answer was simple, there were so many hungry fish that they were anxious to "bite the hook"! So by now, you might be wondering, "What does this have to do with network marketing?"
How many of you would like to catch a "big fish (prospect)"? How many of you would like to know how you could do it often? How would you like your prospects to be hungry to "bite the hook"? It's EASY … when you learn from the fishing story.
What I learned from my 7-year-old nephew and his fishing experience:
You've got to fish in the "right pond" (well stocked)
You need the right equipment (tools)
You catch more when there's a "feeding frenzy" (when they're hungry)
The Right Pond with Lots of Prospects
You've probably heard the saying ‘you can say all the wrongs things to the right person and they'll still join your business.' Likewise, you can say all of the right things to the wrong person and they'll never join your business. So, how do you find lots of the "right people", and where do you find the "right pond"? Doesn't it make sense that the "right pond" is the pond with lots of hungry prospects? That's why a good lead source with quality leads can't be beat … if you know which ones are the hungry ones.
The Right Tools
By now you're probably asking, "How do you know which prospects are the hungry ones?" To find out, you've got to have the "right tools." Remember, Paul couldn't catch fish with his bare hands because he didn't have the right tools (a fishing pole, bait and a hook). So, what is the "right tool"? Most network marketers have far greater success when they use a website to sort through and identify the hungry prospects.
Placing a pre-qualifying form on a website requires prospects to "prove" that they are seriously interested in your business by entering their contact information. Today, technology can even tell you which prospects opened your emails as well as who clicked on a link in an email to go to your website!
The Feeding Frenzy

Haven't you noticed that when there's a lot of people and excitement around some event, people walking by want to know what's happening? They don't want to "miss out". That's why successful leaders build for large meetings (events) and huge conference calls with testimonials of how it's working for others.

If you brought a prospect to an opportunity meeting with just 5 people, they might wonder why they weren't at home watching their favorite television show. But if instead, they walked in to a room with 300 excited people for your opportunity meeting, now they would be curious and think "‘why are so many excited about this?"
Make sure you're creating excitement by building events and support your team and show up even if you don't have a prospect to attend. But what about people who don't want to go to events or don't want to be on conference calls all the time?
Today's hottest tool for building a business is called a ‘Teleconference Call'. When done properly, your website can show prospects that the "Next Step" to living their dreams would be to get on a The Tele Conference Call.
When you "build for an event" just like a Grand Opening of a new store, you can create a tremendous sense of excitement (the "feeding frenzy"). You want to make sure everyone on your team understands the importance of the "feeding frenzy" so that they will support the Teleconference Calls by attending and encouraging their prospects to attend as well.
By having a professional presenter on the Teleconference Call, what you are showing your prospects is that when they join your business, they don't need to do the Teleconference Calls. They can simply point their prospects to the Teleconference Call schedule listed on your website.
A prospects #1 concern when considering joining a home based business is what I like to call "CIDI" which stands for "Can I Do It". They don't care how much money you have earned or what car you drive but rather "Can I Do It?"
The "Feeding Frenzy" of a well attended Teleconference Call will help them to realize that many others are interested, and by simply joining your company and getting a website with great sorting tools and a page to promote the Teleconference Call, they Can Do It!
One other key point to create the "Feeding Frenzy" is for you to have an attitude where you don't really care if they join your business. Having an abundance mindset, where you know that there are lots of people who are very interested in living the life of their dreams will help you to not be attached to any 1 specific person joining your business.
Therefore, before you send your prospect to the Teleconference Call, you need to posture yourself where your prospect really feels that you are so confident in your business opportunity that you won't be chasing them.
Let them know that you are in a business for people that want to succeed and are willing to do something about it. Let them know that if they really want to have more in life that when the Teleconference Call is over, they need to call you. You can do this by adding 1 more key component … legitimate fear of loss.
Let your prospect know that you are only looking to find and develop 5 (or whatever number is best for you) key leaders. The reason for this is that the great thing about your business is that with just a few key leaders, they can teach others how to duplicate your efforts. Therefore, if the prospect going to your Teleconference Call is seriously interested in having more success, they need to call you and soon as you have others who are looking at your business right now.
You will position yourself unlike others who are pushy and will be trying to convince people to join your business. Instead, you will have people anxious to reach you (just like the fish jumping at my nephew's hook without any bait).
This creates a fear of loss and gets prospects to take action and join your business now … thus creating a feeding frenzy!
So let's summarize how you can learn to create a feeding frenzy so people are chasing you instead of you chasing others.
First, you need quality and quantity leads (which I can easily teach you how to do with my Free 128 page eBook called "How to Leverage the Power of the Internet to Generate FREE Quality Prospects and EXPLODE Your Network Marketing Business") which you can get by entering your contact information at any of the sites listed below.
Next, you need to have a great tool (like the fishing rod) to easily sort prospects for you so you only spend time with those who are seriously interested in your opportunity.
Finally, you need to create the feeding frenzy which can be done with a combination of a great Teleconference Call and by also posturing yourself by telling your prospect they will need to follow up with you soon after the Teleconference Call because you are only looking to work with a few key leaders.
