
Basic Needs of an Aging Parent

Nowadays, anti-aging products are ostly patronized by women especially those who are in their late 20's up to late 40's and are now coming to terms with being an aging parent. Unknowingly, women are the most aware beings in this world. All kinds of products, from whitening lotions, bleaching soaps and even anti-aging facial creams and vitamins such as glutathione are widely advertised and marketed to aging parents by companies who are into beauty products. Part and parcel of growing old is deterioration of skin cells. It is shown clearly through a crumpled face and drooping skin. It is in this thought that most women visit their dermatologists and even askcheck with| a physician with regards to different skin problems.
On the other hand, an aging parent is prone to all kind of diseases. Most frequent among these is the Alzheimer's disease. Detection in first stage of it is characterized by memory gaps wherein the patient has complexity in identification of sure learned facts such as names of family members, forgetfulness of the most ordinary things and actions done at home. At this time, everyone in the family must be aware of the changes that will arise so that additional notice can be directed to the aging parent. In this manner, the entire family may have a forum within themselves and think of what is likely to be in the next few days. Since this needs consideration, certain preparations must be taken in the household together with the young members of the family. An aging parent at this time does not only need extra attention and care, but more so on the understanding of the current situation.
As the disease progresses, the patient can suffer irritability and confusion. It is understood that the entire family must give sufficient time to the aging parent. A family gathering once a week might help the aging parent feel more comfortable. The family must be united at this time, thus, making the aging parent experience a sense of belongingness. At this time, it might be that the aging parent is very sensitive and incapable to tidy himself. A caregiver or a personal nurse can give support to the condition depending on the discretion of the whole family members. If everybody is busy, then a personal aide can be of huge assistance to the family.
The majority of the old folks would like to go to church, visit the parks and also chat with fellow elders. This should not be hindered as it may assist them a lot in building a optimistic viewpoint towards life. Care for elder requires a lot of expertise and initiative. Just like nurturing little kids, an aging parent can be as sensitive as they appear.
