The swingset of my memories

When I was a little girl I was very fortunate in having a carpenter father because he was able to design and build a swingset himself. That first swingset was a big happening for me and by brothers as well as for kids from neighborhood.

All the children really enjoyed our swingset, especially the tower we considered our fortress, a place in our exclusivity. We had there the opportunity to imagine all kind of adventures and play on it for hours at a time. That tower was also used as spaceship, house or as a base for tag, etc. I remember I liked to read my books there and sometimes our lunch up there was a great pleasure.

But one of the best memories I have is from a very hot summer evening. All boys and girls took our ice-creams up on the tower and ate them while contemplating a terrific sunset. Then daddy joined us on the tower. We all talked for a long time and some of our friends fell asleep up there. I really hope that evening remained with each one of them forever.

My father is a little older now, but he still has the power build a swingset. It has a wooden tower with a ramp and plastic slide in front and a ladder and cargo net on the back. I am a mother of four beautiful kids and I am very happy to look out my kitchen window while they are playing. I can perfectly see where my kids are and exactly they are doing. Thanks a lot, daddy.
