No other state in the country can parallel Rajasthan as far as heritage and history goes. What is unique is the fact that its history still lives and mingles with the present in the form of the several Palaces, havelis, heritage hotels, traditions, culture, festivities, customs etc. With increasing flow of tourists generated by the curiosity and interest to know the past of humankind; conscious efforts have been made to preserve historical data, manuscripts, coins, scrolls etc which are the markers of the period that a region might have gone through before attaining its present formation.
A museum can be primarily defined as a place, which acquires, conserves, researches, communicates and exhibits for purposes of study, education and of course enjoyment. There are several museums littered across the length and breadth of the State, which proudly display their past and present heritage thereby promoting educative tourism and amusement for the casual visitors.
There are several museums which have amazing collections that mostly include coins, inscriptions, weaponries, silver and golden howdahs and saddles, royal costumes and cutleries, hand guns, cannons, biplanes and framed paintings of royalties and British envoys to name a few.
Whether you visit them for educational or research purposes, or you simply happen to enter them out of curiosity or just to while away your spare time, there is something for every visitor, that will leave you intrigued as well as enlightened.
