Directv Lies To Retain Customers

The most popular and now the most criticized satellite TV provider in the United States of America, Directv has been reported to lie in order to retain customers. Yes, business giants like DirecTV is following unfair and unethical business practices to hold on to subscribers. In a way, they are trying to forcefully keep on consumers. For this they are even ready to lie to them regarding their services and offers. They are just finding different attractive ways to goof up people around and try to make them sign up with the company. They are indeed cheating on their subscribers.

For example, there is this esteemed client who was offered the purchase of DVR while signing up with the company with one its reputed programming packages at a price of $540.99. He agreed to this offer only find himself in hot soup later. He was disclosed that he had not bought the DVR but leased it. This is not the end. He came to know about this when he wanted to upgrade his services to obtain local HD programming channels.

At this point, he was told that he was not entitled for certain offers like system upgrade as he had just leased the unit. In fact, while debating with the customer service representative and the manager, the customer was told the company has changed its policies from purchasing to leasing the unit without any intimation to consumers. This was really shocking for the person. And when he tried to cancel all the services, he was told that a huge termination fee will be charged for this. It was even clarified to him that he will have to return the equipment without any refund of money.

If he had known this earlier, he may have not signed up with DirecTV services at all, for all its malpractices. Moreover, the worst thing was that everything was carried out verbally over the phone. He had leased or purchased the DVR over the phone, so he had no particular documents to prove his point. In addition, the customer has even complained about the rough and demeaning behavior of CSR during the conversation. He is now determined to undergo a long battle with the provider to retrieve his investment from it through credit card disputes.

No doubt, DirecTV lied to him and misled him. Even the installation of dish was poor and under false pretense drained huge money out of him. The CSR of the company insulted him. This incident proves the fact that the people cannot believe what the provider tells them. Moreover, there are other providers as well in the lead that are offering DVR for ‘purchase’ and at a much lower price range. This has definitely proved that the provider can surpass any limits to retain its customers, although forcefully.
