Acne is formed from the oil that comes out of the sebaceous gland. Theses glands differ in size for each person. If you hear people saying they have "large pores" they are talking about these glands. These glands get enlarged during puberty and this is why teenagers have such a problem with acne. Everybody secretes oil from these glands but there are some of us that produce a lot more then others. It can be because of your hormones, genetics, environment, stress and even what you eat. No, chocolate really doesn't cause you to breakout. There are many true acne causes. People from all walks of life and all ages can develop acne, and causes can be different for each type of breakout. If you have acne, the first step is to understand why you have it and what you can do to take care of it. You also need to know what your skin type is, because this will affect how you take care of it. For example, if you have oily skin, your facial cleanser should be water-based, because you need to get rid of excess oil instead of add to it.

Symptoms of Acne:

Typically this condition cause one or more of the following to occur. Blackheads or come domes, Whiteheads, red or yellow spots, greasy skin and scars. Areas typically affected are, usually the face, back, neck, chest or arms. The severity of this condition can vary. People of all colors can be affected by acne. People of a darker color have the impact of the condition altered by the pigmentation.

Causes of Acne:

There are several acne causes that have been revealed by dermatologists all over the world. Some of the more popular causes are: hormonal imbalance, excessive production of oils, improper hygiene, stress, other ailments such as diabetes, pregnancy.

Treatment for Acne:

First, you have to make sure that your over-all health is in good condition. The skin, considered to be the largest organ in body, is an integral component of the body and to ensure its healthy condition, one should also have to ensure that the rest of the body is healthy as well. As the skin is not just an outward concern or for aesthetics only, what you out inside is as crucial as what you do outside of the skin. Eating the right food is important. You may have to alter your bad eating habits if you want to enjoy a more permanent result in the treatment and prevention of acne. Stress, being one of the more prevalent acne causes, should be avoided preferably at all cost. There are several means to handle stress. Having the right attitude is key to managing your stress. If you live a stress-free life, you will soon realize that enjoying an acne-free skin is possible and easy.

Another top issue is the excessive production of oil. This can be addressed by gently exfoliating the skin with preferably your home made scrub or a suitable gentle product that you can find in the market today. It is also crucial to cleanse your face on a regular basis and maintain good hygiene.
