Last month the TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 360 LS Concept Chronograph, the world's only 1/100th of a second mechanical chrongraph, was awarded the prestigious iF Design Award for 2007 by the International Forum Design Jury.

The iF Design Jury is a hand-picked group of watch design experts from around the world appointed with the daunting task of selecting the best designs in various categories of watches.

Since 1953 the iF Design Awards have given recognition to the finest in innovation and cutting-edge watch designs. The all-mechanical Monaco Calibre 360 LS Concept Chronograph won in the Leisure/Lifestyle category.

Chosen from a field of over 2,200 products from 35 countries, this award marks the second consecutive year that a TAG Heuer watch has won the award. In 2006 the TAG Heuer Professional Golf Watch, co-designed with Tiger Woods, won the iF Design Award in the same category.

With this new award, TAG Heuer continues to demonstrate its endless creativity and cutting-edge design capabilities. The Monaco Calibre 360 LS Concept Chronograph was unveiled in April 2006 at Baselworld as a representation of the next evolutionary phase for TAG Heuer's Calibre 360 chronograph movement.

This unique mechanical movement is the first ever in the history of watch making to achieve precision of 1/100th of a second. It also features a Linear Second for the permanent second, another world first! TAG Heuer has been able to achieve this unprecedented level of accuracy by creating a movement that vibrates at an astounding 360,000 beats per hour. That is ten times the rate of most mechanical chronometers.

The dial features an "oversized" 1/100th of a second chronograph sub-dial at the 6 o'clock position which is powered by the Caliber 360 manual wind movement; a 15-minute chronograph counter at 9 o'clock, a 100-minute power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock and a linear second indicator at 3 o'clock.

The TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 360 LS is a "concept" watch, which means it is not yet in production. The only watch in production that uses the Calibre 360 movement is the Limited Edition TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Calibre 360 LE featuring a rose gold case, transparent case back and reptile skin band. Production of this watch was limited to 500 pieces and has a list price of $18,000.
