Plain rugs can come in many different shapes sizes colours and more importantly prices. You can walk into a store and see a rug for around £30 then visit a rug shop and a similar rug is priced at over £100 or more. The reason the prices vary is not necessarily obvious to everyone.

One of the reasons the prices vary is because of the material they are made. Obviously those made from wool or silk will be more expensive than rugs made from synthetic or man made materials.

Another reason the prices vary is because of how they are made. Machine made rugs are made in huge quantities using power tufting machines and looms. They can be made out of pretty much any material. They can be manufactured with different textures styles and sizes quickly and easily. Hand made rugs on the other hand involve a person using a tool to tuft the rug by hand. Some hand made rugs involve a persons actually spinning the yarn as well as knotting each rug 1 yarn at a time which very time consuming. These types of rugs can fetch up to £10,000. Also handmade rugs are often made from natural materials such as wool or silk which is more costly.

If you are planning on going shopping for a rug it is wise to determine how much you are willing to spend first. There are so many styles of rugs at practically any price. Once you have determined your budget you are then free concentrate of finding the best rug for your money.

Rugs come in so many different shapes, sizes and designs it is very difficult to choose the right one for your home. Sometimes a plain rug will compliment a room better than one with a snazzy design on it. With the fancy designer wall papers that seem to be cropping up in peoples homes, it makes sense to tone down the floor area and stick to a plain rug.

Plain rugs are still in abundance. You can get them made from wool, silk, nylon or acrylic and they can come in all different colours and textures. Chenille is another type of rug which is very popular. Chenille is manufactured from cotton, but can also be made using acrylic, rayon and olefin.

Whatever type of plain rug you are after you will be surprised at the options available for you. The prices will vary on what material they are made from and how they are made. If money isn't an issue then you should really go for a wool rug, maybe even a designer rug. Wool rugs are the best quality rugs available today, they are naturally stain resistant, easy to clean, very durable and even flame resistant. Yes they are a bit more expensive, but a nice plain wool rug will last for years and years. Buying a plain rug without a design will last even longer because a patterned wool rug could be outdated as new and fancier designed rugs come on the market.

Those on a budget should look at the machine made plain rugs. They still look beautiful and because they are cheaper you can change then every couple of years. Don't forget to look around the internet because there are huge discounts to be had with online shops due to having lower overheads compared to the high street shops.
