With the recent economic downturn, practically everyone is looking for alternative or supplementary forms of income, regardless of whether they have suffered a pay cut or even lost their jobs. Naturally, most will turn to the internet in the hopes of ideas or opportunities that can help them in any way. Internet Marketing (IM) is one increasingly popular way to do so!

The greatest obstacles that stand in a potential Internet Marketer's way is unfortunately also the most common ones. It is the difficulties in the formative stages of the business that ends up killing the hopes of young entrepreneurs in this area. However, if you are well-prepared to deal with them, you will find that they are a lot easier to get through than you thought!

For anybody new to Internet Marketing, one of the most common mistakes people make is to overload themselves with information. For most newbies, they will naturally want to find out everything they can about the business before putting money into it, regardless of the capital cost. What happens is that the more information they gather, the more they realize they are in extremely unfamiliar territory. Those who decide to press on would often find themselves totally swamped with all kinds of internet marketing jargon. This leads to much frustration and a sense of hopelessness.

To counter information overload, the best solution is to force yourself to stop scrutinizing very single detail and get a general idea of the venture into your head first. Next, it's time to take action. You will not know what you will need to learn until you actually get started. You will find that you do not actually need to understand all the technicalities; all you need to know is to make them work, and that is very simple to do.

Another pitfall that newbies face is picking themselves a mentor. There is an astounding number of sites proclaiming themselves to be Internet Marketing gurus which offer to guide newbies through the entire process - for a price of course. The problem is that there do exist a number of unscrupulous sites which are out to fleece people of their money, and these are often difficult to differentiate from the legitimate sites. I myself have also lost money to some of these scammers. So how can one get past this problem?

Humans have always progressed through accumulated experience, that is to say, we learn from each other's mistakes, and we learn from the mistakes made by our ancestors. Similarly, for Internet Marketing, the best way to identify good mentor sites is to find other people who have tried and benefited from these true IM gurus.

In general, sites which offer newsletters and promotions with no money down for subscription can be considered reliable. If they are not pushy and do not withhold information unless you buy a certain product, then the likelihood of the site being the real deal is higher.

I myself have finally identified one man to be the real deal. His name is Ewen Chia, and he is one of the best there is. Ewen owns Autopilot Internet Income Pte Ltd, a company that was formed to help people like you and me kick-start our very own Internet Marketing businesses. He has gained international recognition at the World Internet Summit, and you can easily find out more about him and his achievements by doing a search on google or youtube.

Truly, this is a great course designed specifically for newbies to Internet Marketing. How can I say this with such confidence? I have bought it, followed exactly as it instructs AND IT WORKS. (Advanced Internet Marketers please take note: you probably would not find it very useful as it is just as I said - designed for newbies.)

I hope this article has helped some of you aspiring Internet Marketers out there get out of their ruts and start taking action!
