If you're new to the eBay selling arena it may all seem somewhat daunting. This article about selling on eBay will give you some guidelines and advice in the area of packing and shipping.
My first suggestion is unless you're already familiar with packing and shipping items consider starting your eBay selling career by offering smaller lighter items. That way you can get some experience under your belt before launching out into bigger heavier things.
Also along these same lines you'll need to decide, beforehand, how you're going to ship. Will you use the US Post Office or UPS? Each has their own guidelines for packaging and transit time so you'll need to do some research.
When I was just starting out selling on eBay I didn't want to increase my costs by buying boxes and I also didn't want to be a dumpster diver to look for boxes. So I opted to order the USPS Priority Mail boxes which you can get for FREE! Don't you just love free?
So if you're not shy you can also just go to stores and ask for boxes or ask friends for boxes. Anyway you do it; you've got to have those boxes! Yes, in all shapes and sizes. Always be on the lookout for boxes but try not to get the heavy ones because this will add to the cost of your shipping.
Ok, you've got your boxes but you still need something to protect your eBay item from damage during shipment. Hmm, what can that be? I'd say you better get some bubble wrap. The medium bubble type works just fine you don't need the large.
Bubble wrap can be ordered on eBay or anywhere online. It's also available at your local Sam's or BJ's type stores. But it's a must. Do not scrimp on bubble wrap!
After you've got your box put together and your item wrapped in that wonderful bubble wrap you're almost done. Your box will need something to cushion the ride of your sale item. What you use there is your choice.
I've personally packed my eBay auction sale items with newspaper, Styrofoam, more bubble wrap, plastic bags, and egg cartons. Anything that will keep that precious cargo from getting broken in transit will do. In fact the more the better!
So don't scrimp on packing materials and bubble wrap.
