Dogs are referred to as a man's best friend, and in return for their loyalty to their owners, they need plenty of love, attention, a healthy diet and lots of exercise.

Dogs can instantly become part of the family, and are fun to have around when you first bring them home as young puppies, however, puppies quickly grow and in just months they are fully grown dogs who need exercising at least twice a day.

If you are out at work all day and your dog is left unattended you may well come home to chewed household furniture and personal belongings and in some extreme cases, your dog may turn aggressive. This is all due to boredom and so it's important that your dog, either has some company during the day or is walked regularly to avoid this happening.

New pet service companies have now been set up that offer both ‘pet sitting' and dog walking services to those of us, who have to work or are out of the house for long periods of time.

These companies employ professional dog walkers, capable of handling even large breeds of dogs and are able to take your dog on the regular daily walks that he demands.

Interacting with other humans and dogs is essential to any dog's upbringing and will make life a lot easier if you do decide, at a later date to integrate another dog into the family home.

If you are out at work and struggling to juggle both social and work commitments then contact a dog walker and explain your requirements. They will then allocate you a personal dog walker. It's important that you meet this person and demonstrate to them about any behavioural problems with your dog so they know exactly what to expect when they begin to walk your dog.
