A former travel agent that was fired by the airlines created the Save on Airfare Secrets Guide to help the average consumer. He is very upfront about his motives. It's called REVENGE.

Like most of you, I have been duped by slick advertising and outrageous claims in the past when purchasing e-books off the internet. It just doesn't make any sense to spend your cold hard cash on "informational" material if it doesn't pay for itself.

OVERVIEW:

With my daughter getting married in October, I wanted to find the best travel deals out there for our relatives and friends. If nothing else, I figured that I could save some money in the coming years on travel.

Let's face it. The travel industry is extremely competitive. Every airline is struggling for survival. Adversely, consumers are always looking for the cheapest way to get from Point A to Point B. For most of us, loyalty boils down to your favorite frequent flyer plan or the most "bang for the buck". The battle has become a modern day David versus Goliath showdown with each side vying for the upper hand.

Any schmuck can check out the usual travel websites. Show me something new! I figured if any guy had the edge it had to be this one.

The author doesn't make any apologies for taking advantage of his "insider knowledge". He knows his stuff. In my opinion, there certainly isn't anything wrong with the rest of us using his expertise if it's legal and ethical. It's called Capitalism!

I went ahead and purchased the e-book and jumped into the material.

The author was very direct and presented the material in a format that anyone can understand. At first glance, it didn't really appear that he was going to tell me anything new. As I went along, it became apparent that he really did have some great ideas and tips.

PROS

The e-book presents some information that you probably won't find anywhere else. The average individual just doesn't have access to the tricks the author suggests. You might be able to pry them out of a travel agent but it's not likely.

The guide starts out by discussing some simple techniques. If you are a rookie most of the ideas may be new. The airlines and hotels certainly aren't going to tell you how and when to make your reservations to save some bucks. You will have to do some legwork to figure that out on your own.

There are ways to get around the rules the airlines play by. Once again, the average person just isn't privy to that kind of information. I never realized that they even had them! I'm willing to make a few minor adjustments to save some money.

If you are really interested in the food that is going to be served on a particular flight, the author gives you some websites that you can check out. I wouldn't change my travel arrangements based on the dietary fare but this could be extremely important to you.

Many folks that travel frequently covet their privacy and comfort on an airplane. The author covers some simple tricks to make your trip more enjoyable. He even tells you what to say to the reservation agents.

The e-book comes with a travel planner and a checklist for your trip. Nothing new there but it might come in handy.

This guy is constantly fighting off the airlines/hotels/car rental agencies with his legal team. He obviously has some incredible ways of exploiting reservation system foul-ups. There certainly isn't any shame in taking advantage of the situation.

I have never really had much luck with Priceline.com. Believe it or not, there are ways to stack the cards in your favor when you are dealing with them. The e-book helps even out the playing field.

It's amazing to me how the travel industry works. We all know that they come up with these goofy fees to boost their bottom line. The author lays it all out in black and white.

You can find some amazing travel deals by using the authors e-mail service. It does require a minor additional investment. He really does try to make sure that you recoup your investment many times over though.

CONS

Your own comfort level will dictate how you handle a few of the tips. I don't mind stiffing the airlines and hotels (they certainly aren't above that themselves) within reason.

Take some of his suggestions with a "grain of salt" and let your own conscience dictate how you handle them. I wouldn't feel right with some of his recommendations but that's just me.

VERDICT

Overall, I would say that the e-book is a worthwhile purchase. You may be able to find some of this information on your own if you spend endless hours looking at forums and websites on the internet. The guide should pay for itself many times over even if you only fly once in a while or stay in a hotel occasionally.

My suggestion would be to keep the e-book in a three ring binder that you can review before making any travel reservations or plans. If you are like me, I need to go back and look at things or I forget them.

Who wants travel to be a chore? It's meant to be fun. If nothing else, the guide will give you some tips on making your travel experiences more enjoyable. Hopefully, you can save some money along the way as well!
