It is after very long time that Motorola came with a touch screen Windows Mobile phone. Though it has some negatives features too, but overall it makes a smartphone.

Motorola A3100 looks elegant by appearance. It has right curves at right places which makes it different from other straight edged silver or black devices. It is a good option for serious users and who want to get rid of their old looking phones. It is made from high quality material. Though its metallic back has matte look, but bezel on its front shines with metallic finish. It is sturdy phone with 120g of weight.

Motorola A3100 does not have keypad but it does have a trackball and Call and Hang up keys below the screen. It is the bottom part of the screen you need to touch to access contextual menus. Trackball is a navigational tool and selects the function when pressed. There is something amiss that is OK key as you have to keep you finger moving on the top right corner to get out of the applications. There is a microSD slot behind the battery cover which is quite convenient while swapping the card. There is micro-USB port on the left edge. A very tiny, often difficult to operate, power button is on the top left corner. There is dedicated audio port of 3.5mm type on this Motorola Mobile.

Motorola A3100 GPS for satellite navigation, Wi Fi connectivity, Blue Tooth and 3 G network enabled. It also includes HSDPA/HSUPA for high-speed cellular data transfer. So you can see connectivity options in this phone are comprehensive and up to date.

It has color TFT touch screen which allows the display of 65K color and 240x320 pixels display.
To capture those precious moments of your life, you need search for a camera as you can have a 3.15-megapixel auto focus camera in your mobile phone. There is another VGA camera to make your video calls. It comes with Microsoft Windows and Pocket Office Software so it works as PDA also. Unlike the previous mobile phones of A-Series, this Motorola Mobile is intended for all global networks.

Despite having some inconsistencies like in user interface, high resolution display or it is quite heavy; this Motorola Mobile is good smartphone in the middle range.
