If you're a car buff, you'll definitely know that Detroit is the car capital of the world. Home to the Big Three otherwise known as General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, Detroit is considered as one of the key pillars of the U.S economy. And of course, the Shelby GT 500 a.k.a Eleanor always comes to mind which was made popular in the movie, Gone in Sixty Seconds.

Michigan is one of the twelve Mid Western states in the United States, and was named so after the Lake Michigan from the Ojibe term mishigama meaning ‘large water' or ‘large lake'. Michigan shares its borders with Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. Geographically, Michigan is two peninsulas and has the largest freshwater shoreline in the world. Its climate is of the humid continental variety which is descriptive of mild summers and cold winters.

With a population of 10 million people, Michigan is the eighth most populous state with the African American and White ethnic groups account for 98% of population. Detroit, Grand Rapids, Warren, Sterling Heights, Ann Arbor, Lansing (its capital), Flint, Clinton Township, Livonia and Dearborn are some of the well-populated cities in the state of Michigan.

Apart from Detroit, Michigan has a number of firsts such as University of Michigan being the first university in the country as well as having the oldest county in the United States. It also has almost 11,000 inland lakes and almost 36,000 miles of streams, so you can imagine the natural beauty that fills the landscape of Michigan.

Now, if you're planning to move to Michigan, you can check for apartments of your choosing over the internet or by speaking to a licensed realtor who will be glad to show you around in order to help you with your relocation needs.
