Candle making is a creative art and is popular hobby among many. When we think of candles, paraffin wax candles come to our mind first. But there are many people who use soy candles instead of paraffin candles. Soy candles are made from soy wax which is made from soy bean oil.

Soy wax is environmentally friendly and produces less soot. Soy wax, unlike paraffin wax, is very soft and melts at a very low temperature. Soy wax is mostly used in making container candles. They also burn longer when compared to paraffin candles.

Maintain the right temperature while the wax melts. Use a thermometer to measure the temperature in the wax melting container. Soy wax should be heated at approximately 120-130 degrees F.

If you are eager to learn how to make soy wax candles, follow this process. Take a pan and put the soy wax in it and heat the same on a medium heat till it melts. Remove the melted fax and add the fragrance oil and mix well. To get the desired colour, add the wax dye as well.

Once the wax mix is ready, pour the melted soy wax gentle in the container or a jar and place the wick in the centre. Once the wax settles, trim the wick. Soy candle is ready.

Be patient! It takes time for Soy Wax to cool down. Pour the cloudy wax into your wicked container.

Allow the candle to set in place until it solidifies. This will take several hours. There is no need to repour a soy candle. If the top is rough you can heat it with a heat gun or hair dryer to smooth it out. Let your soy candle cure for at least 24 hours before burning.

You can create perfect mood by lighting scented soy candles. Once you have learnt the art of making soy candles, you can create designer and scented candles to suit to your tastes. They ca also be used for relaxation and soothing the ambience. Scented soy wax candles are also used in aromatherapy.
