The popular story of lion cub Simba who struggles to accept adult responsibilities and his destiny as king, has been completely reworked for the stage to offer a universal fable for adults. The soundtrack has been enhanced: the show contains fifteen musical numbers including the five songs feature film written by Elton John and Tim Rice. They have composed three new songs in a style pop-rock. To magnify the African context of the booklet, new songs, including Zulu choirs, have been specially written by Lebo M, South African artist.

Few weeks ago, it was announced that the last of the Lion King Theatre Mogador in Paris will take place Sunday, July 25, 2010.
"We want to remain on the public and critical success and so give the French a great memory of the Lion King. We had over one million spectators in Mogador since October 4, 2007 and are delighted but we believe that it 'a good time to announce the end of the show," said Sandrine Mouras, CEO of Stage Entertainment France, the show's producer.

With over one million spectators and being played 7 times a week, The Lion King showed more than a musical quality could give itself over a long period in a theater.

What has changed also, is the adding of the scene where Simba drop insect sticky "but feeding" of the jungle. This scene, which takes place in the middle of the song Hakuna Matata, existed in the cartoon. She had been staged on Broadway, but Julie Taymor, who made the staging, wanted to delete it and do not wash up in Paris. In the third season, we can discover with props slightly different from the originals.

The Lion King, a production of high quality miraculously giving life to animals and plants in Africa epitomized by more than 40 actors and dancers. Few shows, in fact, can tell a story so well known and moving and simultaneously violating all the rules known and appreciated as popular art.

With a talented staging (Julie Taymor) and memorable compositions (Elton John, Tim Rice and Lebo M), the Musical THE LION KING offers a show you breathless!
