Mental attributes for leadership are not inherent, they are learned.
Most of what I write here is from the impression and memory I have of my military career. The kind of people that make up our military are extraordinary. Regarding military leaders, the focus of the military is to recruit uncut gems of people and make them into glistening leaders. They are trained.
In the business world that we live in, this kind of training exists in some good management schools and sometimes in companies. The leadership training relationship that I found in my formal university schooling, some companies and of course the military is quite astounding. Principles of leadership are the same anywhere for they are principles as sure as the elements that make up this world. It just is.
The point here is you can learn to become a leader and if you are to become extraordinarily successful in your business, especially in Direct Sales or Network Marketing, you must become a leader.
The Will to Succeed
Will is the inner drive that compels soldiers and leaders to keep going when they are exhausted, hungry, afraid, cold, and wet'when it would be easier to quit. Will enables soldiers to press the fight to its conclusion. Yet will without competence is useless. It's not enough that soldiers are willing, or even eager, to fight; they must know how to fight. Likewise, soldiers who have competence but no will don't fight. The leader's task is to develop a winning spirit by building their subordinates' will as well as their skill. That begins with hard, realistic training.
Will is an attribute that is essential that you possess. In business, you are challenged on a daily basis. Failure is normal and is your friend. I say friend because failure is an indicator that what you are doing is not working. Your friend (failure) is telling you to change course, not to give up and sink! So, having the will to get up each time you are knocked down with a challenge is imperative to your success. You are setting the example to all that you influence. Remember that your subordinates and business partners watch you, and your personal attitude must prevail over any adverse situations. You and everyone you influence will experience situations when it would be easier to quit rather than find a way to attain the goal . At those times, everyone needs that inner drive, the will to keep going. Develop and strengthen your will.
When things are going great its easy to talk about will; I know this. But the real test is when things get tough, when it seems you have no control, when you think that some important people in business with you no longer pay attention to you, when all your plans seem to fail or not work as good as you thought it would and it just feels like you are losing. My friend, this is when you must draw on your inner reserves of will to persevere; to do all you can to change the course of events and then to remain faithful to your convictions, your sphere of influence , your organization, and even your country. Never quit.
If you never quit, you cannot fail. This takes the Will to Succeed.
