KIAs for many are considered great family cars. When you're choosing a car for your family you need to consider slightly different aspects than you would choosing one for yourself or for a young professional or first time driver, and while you still want a pleasant drive that isn't an eyesore you will need to make practicality and function the focus of your search. Fortunately most KIAs can offer all these things.
The first thing to consider is the size of your family, and if you are the average family you are likely to have something along the lines of 2.4 children. That means either two or three, and if you have three you'll possibly need a little extra space (while there are three seats in the back the middle one isn't as comfortable or as safe, and it doesn't leave much space for luggage or other items). Even if you have two children or find that you don't travel many places as a whole family very often. Then you will probably find that you want to occasionally offer lifts or go out for the day with other people. They are also likely to bring friends and others round and this will then make life difficult if you don't have any extra spaces.
As such an MPV minivan or a people carrier such as the KIA Sedona will offer two extra seats at the back to help you carrier up to six passengers with you at anyone time, making it great for days out, parties and other occasions. If you don't opt for a people carrier (which can be quite large for some) then all KIAs will offer an ample amount of leg room being generally big cars. For holidays KIA Sedonas also make good 'pullers' and can pull a caravan with no difficulty. As an added bonus the middle seats can be turned to face the rear which children love.
This extra size also helps with safety, and if you have a family with young children then this should be your primary concern. Having this extra size, as you will do with any KIA car, will put more metal between you and anything you should hit acting as great protection. If you don't want a people carrier but want extra protection then the bulky KIA Sportage four by four is a great option. This too has the added bonus of being able to go off road in areas where this is allowed which can add a lot of fun to a family day out.
These also have large boots which is also important to bear in mind whether for prams, wheelchairs or dogs - any of which are fairly common in families. They'll also help with large family shopping trips.
KIAs as a rule also have good fuel consumption around cities and towns which is an important consideration as you'll be doing lots of school runs and trips to work which will require a lot of stopping and starting. For all these reasons a KIA makes a great family car, particularly the Sportage or the Sedona.
