One of the most unspoken but highly important internet marketing trends is market research. Knowing your target audience is a crucial step in starting any business. This article will teach you how to avoid getting into an online business just to find out that nobody wants to buy your products.

So why is market research one of the most important internet internet marketing trends that nobody wants you to know about? The reason is because no matter what niche your are in -make money online niche, dating niche, personal development niche, the presence of competition is a strong determinant of your chances of success.

The key is to enter a niche or to target a set of audience that has low competition and high profitability. So how do you know if your chances of profiting from your set of audience is high? There are 3 types of audiences on the internet:

1) Information seekers - These people generally do not spend money to obtain things online. They get their sources of information through blogs, websites, free newsletters and discussion forums.


2) Shoppers - These people have bought things over the internet before, might buy things they see useful but are not necessary desperate for anything,

3) Hungry desperate buyers - These guys can be described as hungry, desperate, and possesses the need for instant fulfillment of their needs.

So from the 3 types of audience above, we should be targeting the hungry desperate buyers if we want to make lots of money from the internet. However, information seekers and shoppers are not necessarily people who do not buy, it is just that they have not yet developed an intense burning desire or desperation for a certain product.

So which niches have hungry desperate buyers. The top 3 niches with target these types of audience are the "make money online" niche or internet marketing niche, "health and fitness niche" and dating niche. Although these niches are already highly saturated and competitive, the nature of the market is still very encouraging for tapping into.

One important thing we can see from these 3 niches is that they all have hungry, desperate and targeted audience who all have a need for instant gratification (e.g bankrupt people, overweight people and lonely people). What we can learn from this is before we choose a niche, your target audience must have these similar traits. There is no point getting into a niche that no one is interested in.


The next step is seeing if there is a sizable audience for your target niche. This can be done by doing a keyword search using Google Keywords Tool. If your keywords have a global monthly search volume of
of 3000 and above, chances are you have a good size of market your can tap into. Also take note of the advertiser competition. If there are others paying money to advertise for those keywords, you probably have a good niche.

All in all, just use your common sense to determine whether there is a need for your product and do the relevant market research and keyword analysis.
