As they have this special insulated lining, you will notice that they are much heavier than standard curtains. You therefore need to make sure that the rails or rods used to keep them in place can sufficiently handle the extra weight.

Insulated curtains can help to lower your heating bills over the winter. This means that over time the money you save on your utility bills will help to pay for these curtains. As an additional bonus, you also get the added benefit of having blackout curtains. As the lining is so thick, it automatically blocks outside light from filtering into the room.

You can buy blackout curtains without the insulated lining, but you will probably pay about the same amount of money. So it does make much more sense to look for insulated curtains instead. You can still find these window treatments in all possible colors to match your room’s color scheme. You can also buy them in many patterns to match existing upholstery in the lounge or bedroom. They are very practical curtains that can pay for themselves over time and allow for a warmer home.
