You need to go to your front yard and get rid of all the clutter, and that includes your children's toys, your pet's chew toys, and anything and everything that might distract the eye of the buyer.

Then you need to concentrate of your lawn, bushes, shrubs, plants and flowers. You need to keep your lawn tidy and mowed, trim your shrubs and bushes, replace dead or bad looking plants, and plant new flowers with lots of color in strategic places around the yard.

Look at your exterior paint and see whether it is time for a new paint job, especially if the paint is peeling, cracked, bubbled, or faded. Pay special attention to the trim around the windows that face front and your front door. If you add accents, they are going to make your house stand out and look much more inviting.


Clutter inside the house is a killer too, so get rid of all the junk that you can. If you have overly large furniture that takes over a room, put it in storage. You are going to want your home to look spacious, bright and very warm. Open your windows and drapes, and replace all your light bulbs with maximum wattage bulbs for lots of light.

You need to pay close attention to bad odors because they are a deal killers too, especially if you smoke or have pets. People who smoke or have pets sometimes get accustomed to the smell, so you might want someone who is objective to come to your house and let you know whether there are bad smells.

Please do not get offended by what people tell you, and concentrate on doing a thorough cleaning so that your house smells as good as possible. There are other things that you can do, but these a few simple tips to get you on your way toward selling your house.
